Seeking performers for My Horrifying Holiday 2!

Liberate the holiday season through performance!

Proposals due: Monday, September 18th, 2017 at 11:59 PM

at the Seward Cafe

In the first run of “My Horrifying Holiday” last year, queer-led performance art incubator Patrick’s Cabaret invited performers to lambast the discomfort of the holiday season with a tongue-in-cheek comedic look at the “most wonderful time of the year”...that we actually detest. In 2017, the radical queer curator team Baby Patê (made up of depraved BFFs gelli spinelli and Christian Balden) resurrect the Horrifying Holiday tradition from the dead with a new twist.

We invite performers to put conventional holidays to rest, and invent and explore a unique holiday through performance. We are here to cummune around what you believe is divine. What subversive and perversive customs deserve celebration? This evening is a safe space for live sacrifice, body modification, and prayer. Let us into your world!

Seeking artists of all disciplines, experience levels, and religious affiliations (including none) to liberate the holiday season. This is an opportunity to transform the customs that have molded or traumatized you and let your freak flag fly. We’re particularly interested in disciplines like dance, radical performance art, drag, film, and other forms that will provide variety alongside storytellers and comics. Artists of color, with disabilities, or LGBTQIA+ identified always especially encouraged to apply.

Proposals are due by Monday, September 18th at 11:59 PM, and we will let you know if we can include you in this event by Wednesday, September 27th.

Artist Payments

Artists are paid a stipend of $50/night, guaranteed unless the show is canceled, the artist does not perform, or the artist leaves before the end of the event. Additionally, artists will receive advanced tickets to sell for the run of the show. Artists can offer ticket sales to their friends and fans at a discounted rate of $10/each, and keep all of that money-- it goes directly into their pockets. Artists appearing in two nights of a show will get 5 tickets to sell for the run, and artists appearing in only one night of a show will get 2 tickets to sell for the run. Artists can then expect to make up to $150 for 2 nights, and up to $70 for 1 night.
