Thanks for your interest in Performing at Patrick’s Cabaret!
Baraka de Soleil of D UNDERBELLY
Studies N Black ~ February 2007
Patrick’s Cabaret is an artistic home and creative point of intersection for emerging and established artists working on the edge of culture, whether because of radical content, experimental form, or cultural marginality.
Here’s a quick picture of what we do and how you can participate:
Cabarets ~ The cornerstone of our programming is the “Cabaret” formula Patrick Scully started in 1986. Each show, typically consisting of six acts, is carefully curated to offer a mix of artistic disciplines, experience levels, and creative viewpoints. There are three types of Cabarets:
Concept Cabarets ~ NEW! These Cabarets respond to a general idea or theme. While you don’t have to create new work specifically from that concept, you do need to demonstrate how you and/or your work fits within its framework--we’re easily convinced! Anyone may apply to participate, and selections are made by Patrick’s Cabaret’s Performing Arts Curator to find the right mix of artists and disciplines.
Check out the current Call for Performers and tell us about how you could interpret the theme in an upcoming Concept Cabaret!
Open Call Cabarets ~ Open Call Cabarets provide an accessible platform for performing artists to share their work. Emerging artists of any genre or discipline, and established artists who would like to explore a new part of their practice or share new work, are especially encouraged to apply. No thematic constraints, but acts are chosen that will provide a variety of experiences at a given event.
Check out the current Call for Performers and tell us about you and what you’d like to share in an Open Call Cabaret.
Throughout the year, we engage Guest Curators and help them produce their own Cabaret shows. They each select their own line-up of artists and promote and host the show. The Performing Arts Curator selects Guest Curators in six-month blocks through an open call, available in the fall and spring of each year.
More information and Guest Curator applications are made available on the Call for Performers page under Upcoming Opportunities. If you would like to be added to an email list to hear about future calls for Curators, please email email@example.com.
Music Events ~ Two ongoing live-music performance tracks at Patrick’s Cabaret are Singer/Songwriter Series and Eclectic Electric Music Series. The Singer/Songwriter Series features a solid mix of talented, emerging, and established artists, and the Eclectic Electric Music Series features a wide variety of styles and genres from local, regional, and national touring artists. We also produce an annual street music festival.
To inquire about music event opportunities, please contact Music Programming Coordinator Chris Mozena at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Calof Series ~ The Calof Series pairs two Spoken Word/Storytelling artists with two Singer/Songwriters for an evening of intimate and exploratory performance in our cozy Lobby Lounge. Combining the informality of a coffeeshop open mic with the co-creative opportunity of a peer writing group, Calof events are designed to give performing artists a chance to share new works-in-progress and blur the line between audience and creator.
To inquire about participating in the monthly Calof Series, check out the Call for Performers and send us more information about your work.
Scrawlex ~ An uncompromising, uncensored open stage event, presented monthly. 10 minute slots to share whatever you want. No advance sign-ups--just show up and give us what you got!
Check out the Calendar to see when the next Scrawlex is scheduled.
Space Rental ~ Community members are welcome to use our theater space for performances, classes, and rehearsals. Our low rental rates are an extension of our mission to provide a home for artists to develop their practice.
