Core Programming

The core program at Patrick’s Cabaret consists of our weekend of cabarets, each show generally consisting of six acts, with a mix of experience levels and artistic disciplines. Each cabaret is carefully curated to offer a diverse range of performances, while at the same time striving to maintain accessibility for the artists we target with our outreach.

Shadow Cabaret ~ December 2006

We put it all on stage ~ video, dance, performance art, comedy, theater, spoken word ~ you name it, it happens here.

There is no typical evening at the Cabaret. Some weekends are guest curated, some are curated by Patrick Scully, our Artistic Director. Some weekends are an eclectic mix of performers, while others are based on a particular theme. Generally, there are no auditions ~ artists are either invited to perform, or they request an opportunity, and each performer usually has fifteen minutes.

Movies in the Park-ing Lot

This series features four free different films shown in the south parking lot at the Cabaret. Mark Wojahn, local filmmaker and film presenter, curates this series of films. Feature films are preceded by short films by local filmmakers.

Out Rage Us!

For Out Rage Us! Patrick’s Cabaret gathers some of Minnesota’s freest spirits, a collaborative show that is political, transgressive, sassy and fun. We involve some of the area's best performance artists in an effort to provide an edge to the performance art scene in Minneapolis. These shows are bold, playful, and edgy, pushing the audience to think critically about the world around us and the issues facing America today. Out Rage Us! takes place sporadically on Tuesday night's and features mid-career and mature artists along with emerging artists.

City Pages says this about Out Rage Us!:

Patrick Scully might be dubbed our veteran provocateur. Since 1986, when the first Patrick's Cabaret opened at St. Stephen's, Scully has been presenting performance art at once naive, sophisticated, out there, and in synch with the times. But Scully really ups the ante with "Out Rage Us Cabarets," a series designed to show the wild side of love, life, and political discourse in a very cold climate. .... Is this Mel Brooks's 2000 Year Old Man revisited? Or prewar Berlin revamped? Either way, Scully knows how to throw a good party.

High School Cabaret Program

Patrick's Cabaret opens its doors to local High Schools and Youth Arts programs, and invites young people to take over. For our 2008 - 2009 season, we are presenting Roosevelt High School, Southwest High School, Young Dance, and Main Street School of the Performing Arts.
